Whilst cannabis is held in high reverence, true worship is reserved for Allah alone. Bhang represents the spirit of the prophet Khizr (Elijah) as opposed to Allah himself.
The Moslem sect most commonly associated with cannabis are the Sufis, although in modern times its use has been banned almost entirely.
